How Contact Sheet works
A contact sheet is the page photographers print to see every frame of a roll at once. This tool builds one from a single photograph: it cuts the picture into frames that range from the whole image to close crops, and lays them out on a sheet. Sheet Layout chooses the arrangement (Classic Sheet, Hero Story or Wide Sequence), Detail Range (0–100) sets how close the detail crops go and Frame Spacing (0–100) the space between frames. You can also reframe a single image by dragging it.
Paper chooses the paper (Dark Paper, Ivory or Warm White), Frame Labels turns frame labels on and off, and Sheet Typography chooses the text on the sheet (Numbers Only, Title and Numbers or No Text). Framing Seed (1–9999) changes which crops are picked, so the same photo can give many different sheets.
Choosing a photo
Photos with detail across the frame, such as a subject, a background and some texture, give the close-up frames something to show. A photo that is the same everywhere gives frames that look alike.
Settings worth changing first
- Sheet Layout: Classic Sheet, Hero Story or Wide Sequence.
- Detail Range (0–100, default 62) and Frame Spacing (0–100, default 36).
- Framing Seed (1–9999): a different set of crops.
- Paper (Dark Paper, Ivory or Warm White) and Sheet Typography (Numbers Only, Title and Numbers or No Text).

Before you start
What is a contact sheet?
A contact sheet is a single page showing small prints of every frame on a roll of film. Photographers use it to review a shoot and choose frames. This tool borrows the format to show one photo as a set of views and details.
How do I change which parts of the photo appear?
Drag an individual frame to reframe it, or change Framing Seed (1–9999) to pick a different set of crops. Detail Range (0–100) controls how close the detail frames go.
How do I change the layout of the sheet?
Sheet Layout offers Classic Sheet, Hero Story or Wide Sequence. Frame Spacing (0–100) sets the space between frames and Paper the colour of the paper.
What can I export?
PNG or JPEG at 1400, 2200 or 3200 pixels on the long edge. The photo is processed in the browser and is not uploaded.
